This book is a wonderful book to have in your genealogy collection. It helps you master the Census and Military Records. The section on the census is very informative. It tells you the essentials you need to know, helps you understand the history behind the census, where to find the Censuses including the State and Territorial Censuses as well. It also helps you get the most out of a census and explains what the Mortality Schedules are and how to use them. It also explains about the other census records, for example: Slave Schedules, Indian Census Rolls, Deaf Couples, etc. as well as provides you with tricks of the trade. As for the Military Records, it has a separate chapter on War-by-War Records, a chapter on various Military records and reports as well as covering certain things like the Korean War, Vietnam War, Draft registration cards, Pension records, etc. and other resources to help you look for other Military records. It's a great find for me. It has already opened my eyes to somethings I never knew even existed like "Old Man's Draft Registration". It has a glossary of Terms that are used in these records, a year-by=year census questions, and a synopsis of Mortality Schedules by State. It even provides a sample of American Indian Schedule. This is a definite "Must Have" for anybody doing genealogy.
